The Toyota Hilux & Toyota Prado Is Generally Known For Its Reliability Unless We Speak About Turbochargers! 1KD Turbochargers Get A Siren Whine To Them, Not Everyone Looks Into This Issue When Replacing Turbochargers, The Siren Noise Is Generally A Chipped Turbine Wheel. Below Is Two Lists, One Is a Must Do When Replacing A 1KD Turbo And The Second Is A Check List, These Will Help Quote Up Your Job and Save The New Turbo From Failing.

What To Replace.

  1. Map Sensor Filter.
  2. Engine Oil.
  3. Oil Filter.
  4. Air Filter.

What To Check.

  1. EGR Valve.
  2. Catalytic Converter.
  3. Intake Manifold. (This One Is The Main Reason Turbos Fail)
  4. Injectors, You Can Check These VIA Scanner.

 

All Of These Issues Will Cause Multiple Issues, Map Sensor Filters Are Notorious To Split And Cause Turbo Over-Boost, A Blocked Inlet Manifold Will Also Cause High EGT'S Due To Poor Airflow To The Engine.
