How To Prevent Your Turbocharger From Leaking?

Turbocharger Seals Are Unlike General Oil Seals, They Are Similar To Piston Rings. They Require Positive Air Pressure Inside The Compressor Housing And Turbine Housing To Keep Oil From Pushing Past Them, Essentially Like A Balance Of Both. A Restriction In The Intake Side Will Create a Vacuum Effect That Will To Pull Oil Past The Seals At The Compressor End Housing. Extended Periods Of Engine Idle Work Will Present Similar Issues, The Turbo Will Rotate At Very Low Speed With  Low Air Pressure. The Resulting Vacuum Will Cause Oil To Seep Into The Turbine Housing.

What Can Cause Oil Leaks On Your Turbocharger?

  • Restrictions In The Oil Drain Pipe.
  • Excessive Oil Pressure (Yes You Can Have To Much)
  • Faulty Engine Breather / PCV System.
  • Oil Drain Gasket Fitted Incorrectly Or Has Excessive Sealant.
  • Blocked Air Filter.
  • Extreme Amount Of Engine Blow By.
